Remembrance Day

Despite only having one follower (thanks jade) i'm going to keep this going for my own boredoms sake.

Tomorrow is November 11, also known as remembrance day, i don't take remembrance day to seriously, i just see it as a time to reflect, to look back and think "shit, am i lucky."
i get worried about my homework, yet if i was born 80 or so years ago i could be worrying about dying. This brings me to what got me in photo class today, of course the school doesn't care enough to give an assembly, and they give an announcement and a few stories about the war, and then play a song. Good job, really- is it to much effort to do something that will actually catch kids attention? Bring a veteran in, ask him/her to tell some stories, and turn some heads. While we have our moment of silence, it's just not enough to do it for some kids. Instead of at least being respectful, they giggle, they play with scissors and make confetti and laugh out loud at it. When people shoot them dirty looks, they respond with laughs, as is people take themselves to seriously. NO - people are thankful, people are smart- not like you, you lack every ounce of possible sympathy or thanks that our veterans deserve, so - my respect goes to the ones who fought, and my lack of respect goes to you.

Another thing that can't leave my mind is that all our thoughts seem to go to wars in the past, such as the second world war. "Never Again" is what they said, really?. It looks like the world may have forgotten that, namely America, one of the countries that takes remembrance day more seriously than a lot of other countries, that is also breaking international law with it's current foreign policy in Iraq. This makes me sick.

On the lighter side- check out this band called Beirut - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsfAmkKRcFU&feature=related - good stuff, it's like David Byrne doing indy folk.

I am going to try to describe myself as best a possible.

Young Caucasian Male. That's probably the only facts I can get straight about myself. I go to school, I learn in a different way than most, in the sense that i can't mindlessely regurgitate facts like the majority of kids do on a daily basis at my school. I'm better at subjects that i like, because my mind tends to figure that that's the stuff worth remembering. I think I'm a very honest person, i think that's my best virtue. other than that i tend to sympathise with people, and feel bad about things more than most. I love music, i love exercise, it makes me happy, running, fruitbooting, climbing, biking, skiing, it's all good. Skiing especially, skiing is probably what goes through my head more than anything else, simply put- it's just really fun. But it goes beyond that, it's a lifestyle, it's a way to be original, it's a mindstate. It's really fun though, really- you should try it.

First Time

My apologies for the suggestive title. This is my first blog. Rather, my first experience of using the internet to express myself. I guess the largest contributing reason to me starting this is a friend of mine at school, and though i don't read her blog a lot, i have been influenced by her to start this. I started this for several reasons, one is because i wanted a productive way to spend my time on the computer, instead of mindlessely watching videos and creeping facebook. I also wanted a way to vent, to express myself, and possibly improve my writing. I want to write about everything, myself, the world, music i like, and skiing. In time i think this might turn into a video blog, as i gain perspective on how to work the internet. Thanks for reading.
